UML obstructs NA meeting demanding PM Dahal’s resignation

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the National Assembly (NA) on Thursday was disrupted by the CPN-UML demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”.

As soon as the meeting began on Thursday afternoon, UML members stood up and impeded the proceedings.

During the meeting, UML MP Bhairab Sundar Shrestha stated that the House would not be allowed to proceed until the Prime Minister stepped down.

“Prime Minister Dahal’s remarks are in opposition to the sovereignty and independence of the country,” he stated.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Dahal had made a statement claiming that Sardar Pritam Singh had repeatedly traveled to Delhi in an attempt to make Dahal the Prime Minister.

On Wednesday, the UML also disrupted the proceedings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly in response to the Prime Minister’s statement.

Meanwhile, the ruling coalition has come to the defense of Prime Minister Dahal following his recent statement, which has sparked controversy and led to demands from CPN-UML for the PM’s resignation.

A meeting of the ruling coalition took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, where they criticized the main opposition party UML’s demand for Prime Minister Dahal’s resignation as “unparliamentary” and imprudent.

Rajendra Pandey, a leader of the Unified Socialist Party, stated that during the meeting of the ruling alliance, it was decided that the UML’s demand was unparliamentary, and Prime Minister Dahal was not required to resign.

Furthermore, the meeting also concluded that Prime Minister Dahal would provide a clarification of his statement in Parliament.
