PM Dahal emphasizes on reviving Nepal Communist Party

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has emphasized the need for Nepal’s communist parties to reassess their past shortcomings and strive to revive the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

He made these remarks during a speech commemorating the 34th anniversary of Narayan Bilas Joshi, the founder of the Communist Party, held in Bhaktapur on Sunday.

Prime Minister Dahal acknowledged that the unity between the CPN-UML and the Maoist Center could not be sustained.

Consequently, he emphasized the importance of reviving the Nepal Communist Party by critically examining its weaknesses.

During his speech, Dahal revealed that he had previously advised KP Oli, the CPN-UML Chairman, about the potential for economic prosperity through unity among communist parties.

Following the merger of CPN-UML and the Maoist Center, they secured an almost two-thirds majority in elections, which generated excitement among the people but also caused concern among opposition or reactionary forces.

However, Prime Minister Dahal expressed his intention not to assign blame for the failure to maintain unity.

His statements underscore his perspective on the current political landscape and his belief in the necessity of reassessing past weaknesses as a means of charting the way forward for the communist parties in Nepal.
