Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League: Khumaltar in relegation, Nepal Police stands third



KATHMANDU:  FC Khumaltar has been relegated from the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League 2079/80 after the last stage of the game played on Friday.

Church Boys United already at the top position in the league beat Khumaltar by 2-0 in the match played at ANFA Complex.

With the defeat, Khumaltar has been relegated to the ‘B’ division.

Referee Prajwal Chhetri gave red cards to four officials of Khumaltar after they attacked the referee for not giving a penalty in the injury time of the controversial first half.

Sushil Shah and Joseph Bempah scored one goal each for the league winners Church Boys. Sushil scored a goal in the 12th minute of the game and gave Church Boys the lead. Joseph scored in the injury time of the first half to give Church Boys a 2-0 victory.

With the win, Church Boys scored 48 points after playing 26 games. With the loss, Khumaltar scored 27 points in 26 games and fell to the last place, and got dropped to the ‘B’ division.

Nepal Police Club secured third place by defeating Satdobato Youth Club 1-0 in the match at Chyasal ground today. Ahmad Hijaji’s goal in the 12th minute became decisive.

With the win, Nepal Police scored 41 points by playing 26 matches. With the loss, Satdobato remains in fifth place with 35 points in 26 games.
