Current year’s expenditure estimated to be 1,504 billion



KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has issued an estimate of government expenditure for the current fiscal year of Rs 1,504 billion.

Out of this, current expenditure is Rs 10 trillion 43 billion 39 crore, i.e. 88 percent of the allocation, capital expenditure is 2 trillion 58 billion 34 crore rupees, i.e. 67.91 percent, and the revised estimate of 2 trillion three billion 26 million rupees, i.e. 88 percent, is spent on financial arrangements.

In the financial year 2078/79 BS, the total government expenditure was estimated to be Rs 14 trillion 47 billion 51 crores or 88.6 percent.

Of the total government expenditure, current expenditure is Rs 971 billion 86 crore or 91.2 percent, capital expenditure is Rs 3 trillion 9 crore i.e. 79.4 percent and it is estimated that Rs 1 trillion 75 billion 56 crore or 92.7 percent will be spent on financial system.

Last year, the economic growth rate was estimated to be 5.8 percent. This year, the economic growth rate is expected to be only 2.16 percent.
