25 projects, enterprises, submit environmental self-monitoring reports



KATHMANDU: Projects and enterprises have started submitting environmental self-monitoring reports.

This follows the notice issued on April 8 by the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Forests and Environment asking enterprises to submit environmental self-monitoring reports in line with the Environment Protection Act and the Environment Protection Rules, said acting Director General of the Department, Tara Datta Bhatta.

In nine months of the current fiscal year, 2022/23, twenty-five enterprises and projects have submitted the reports, he said.

The Department has asked them to compulsorily submit the reports as per Rule 45 of the Environment Protection Rules. It has also warned of action as per the laws in case of failure to do so, said Bhatta.

The companies and projects that have submitted the reports include the Dordi hydropower project (12 megawatts), the Nupche Likhu hydropower project, the CG Foods Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the Upper Mailung River hydropower limited, the United Cements Pvt. Ltd., the Soaltee Hotel Limited, the Saurav Food Production Pvt. Ltd., the Nepal Medical College Pvt. Ltd. and the Teaching Hospital.

Similarly, other enterprises submitting their environmental self-monitoring reports are the MTEK Pvt. Ltd., the Hulas Steel Industry Limited, the Industrial District Management Limited, the Tanahun hydropower limited, SR Drug Laboratory Private Limited, the Live Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Magnus Pharma Pvt. Ltd., the Pashupati Iron & Steel Pvt. Ltd., the Dordikhola hydropower project (27 megawatts), the Himgiri Hygiene Pvt. Ltd., the New Hope Agro Business Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the Grande International Hospital, the Upper Marsyangdi ‘A’ hydropower project, and the Tiger One Pvt. Ltd.25 projects, enterprises, submit environmental self-monitoring reports.
