Hailstorm damages crops in Bajura

BAJURA: The hailstorm that occurred last Wednesday afternoon has damaged food crops, vegetables, and fruits in the Khaptad Chededaha rural municipality of the district.

The hail has damaged wheat, barley, vegetables, potatoes, onions, garlic, and fruits, said Bhimla Budha of Budhabada in ward no 7 of the rural municipality-7. Farmers in wards no. 6 and 7 are reported to be most affected.

Meanwhile, farmer Birkh Oli said that the farmers who were affected by the hail should be compensated rather than only for relief support.

The local government and the Agricultural Knowledge Center Bajura have not taken any steps to collect the details, and the affected farmers have complained.

Gauri Oli, a farmer, said that although 905 families were affected by the hailstorm, the rural municipality showed no interest in collecting the details of the damage. Farmers are worried that they will not get compensation after the Municipality and Agricultural Knowledge Center Bajura did not show interest in collecting details of the damage.

Monitoring carried out by the ward office has estimated that the damage is more than 20 million rupees.
