Passenger help desk set up at Jamunaha border point

BANKE: The district administration has established a passenger help desk at the Jamunaha border point to facilitate the safe return of Nepalis from India ahead of the Dashain and Tihar festivals.

With the major festivals approaching, the number of Nepalis returning home from India has been increasing.

Chief District Officer of Banke Dil Kumar Tamang said the help desk was established to prevent possible incidents of robbery, fraud and other criminal activities targeting returning passengers.

“The safety of citizens is our priority, and we have implemented a security plan after identifying potential risks,” Tamang said. He added that the help desk would coordinate with relevant agencies and provide necessary information and assistance to people crossing the border.

Angur GC, chief of the District Police Office, Banke, said the desk would help prevent criminal activities that could increase during the festive season.

Similar help desks will also be established at bus parks in Nepalgunj and Kohalpur to provide information and assistance to Nepalis returning from India for Dashain celebrations, officials said.

Personnel from the Nepal Police and Traffic Police have been deployed at the help desks.
