Fake Bhutanese refugee scam: Police submitting investigation report today



KATHMANDU: The police is submitting the report to the District Prosecutor’s Office, Kathmandu today after completing the investigation on the case of a fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

SP Sitaram Rijal stated that the District Police Circle, Kathmandu is submitting the report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office after completing a two-month-long investigation.

Police have arrested 16 people in this case so far.

Police have completed taking the statements of Shamsher Mian, Chairman of the Haj Committee, and Teknath Rizal, a Bhutanese refugee leader.

Police have arrested CPN-UML MP Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, his son Sandeep, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, his aide Narendra KC, former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal’s security expert Indrajit Rai, former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and former Nepali Congress MP Angtawa Sherpa.

Likewise, others include Sagar Rai, Sandesh Sharma, Ram Sharan KC, and Gobinda Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, Niraj Rai, and Badal’s son Prateek, are absconding.

According to police sources, warrants have been issued against them.
