Gandaki govt makes changes in ministries

POKHARA: The Gandaki Province Government has made changes in the Province Government Portfolio Division.

The new work division of the ministries has been published in the Province Gazette.

Spokesperson of Gandaki Province Government and Minister without Portfolio Sarswati Aryal Tiwari said that the decision was taken for the new adjustment as the prior work division of the ministries was not duly appropriate.

As per the new division, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law has been merged with the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.

Now onwards, the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers will oversee the portfolios of law and order, disaster management, province assembly affairs, law and communications.

Likewise, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Drinking Water and Ministry of Agriculture and Land Management have been formed by dividing the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the past.

However, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management and Ministry of Social Development and Health have been kept intact.

Earlier, the number of ministries was downsized from 12 to seven.

Tiwari said that the cabinet expansion of the Gandaki Province will get a full shape soon as the work division of the ministry is settled now.
