ICT Day being marked today



KATHMANDU: The National Information Technology Day or ICT Day is being marked today.

The theme of the Sixth ICT Day this year is ‘Secure Information Technology, Good Governance and Prosperity’.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Netra Prasad Subedi said the ICT Day would be celebrated by organizing various programs.

The people contributing to the promotion of the ICT sector would also be felicitated on the occasion.

“The ICT Day is observed with the goal of promoting ICT for the country’s development and prosperity. Ways of combating cybercrime are also discussed,” Subedia said.

The catchline for the Day is determined by the concept that information needs to be reliable and credible.

An ICT Day Main Program Committee has been organised under the convenorship of Ministry Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut for celebrating the ICT Day.

Computers entered the country in 2028 BS. The Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) was established on this very day in 1992 and the National ICT Day started to be marked to commemorate this occasion.
