In a press statement released by the Commission on Thursday, it shared that there were altogether 38 posts lying vacant in ward chairs of rural municipalities, four in rural municipality chairs and vice-chairs and one mayoral post in the municipality.

Similarly, one post has fallen vacant in HoR and three in State Assembly. Update of voters’ lists was being undertaken in the District Election Offices, District Administration Offices and designated Area Administration Offices in all 77 districts, shared EC Spokesperson Shankar Prasad Kharel.

The government in its policy and program for fiscal year 2019/20 has already made an announcement that by-election would be held by the new fiscal year itself.

The EC has urged all the people, political parties and related stakeholders for their cooperation in the update of voter lists.

It had held three-tier elections in 2017 and 2018.
