One succumbs to COVID-19 in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A person has died of Coronavirus infection in Kathmandu today, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Deputy Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Samir Adhikari, here today confirmed the death of a person in Kathmandu due to the deadly infection. A total of 104 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the past 24 hours in the country.

The new cases came to light through the 1,632 sample tests conducted through PCR and Antigen methods in various labs across the country during the same period, the Ministry said in its routine update.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 in the country stands at 379 at present.

Meanwhile, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Spokesperson of the government, Rekha Sharma, said that the government was undertaking various preparatory activities to minimize the increasing risk of COVID-19.

Minister Sharma said so in today’s meeting of the National Assembly.

According to Dr Abhiyan Gautam, Chief of Child Health and Immunization Section at the Family Welfare Division, of the 3 million booster doses of Pfizer, the government had only 300,000 doses at present in the stock. Remaining booster doses are being distributed to local levels.

He shared that the booster doze campaign was ongoing and urged one and all to get themselves secured with an additional booster doze.
