Tourist Information Center set up at Thamel

KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Tourist Police Unit jointly set up a Metropolitan Tourism Information Centre at Thamel, Kathmandu’s major tourism hub today.

The center has been set up with the support of Department of Tourism (DoT) and the Kathmandu Metropolis-26 on the initiation of Tourist Police, Bhrikutimandap.

Inaugurating the launching program, Director General at the DoT, Danduraj Ghimire Ghimire stated that the center has been established with the prime objective of providing information to foreign visitors. He appreciated the role of tourist police in curbing the incidences of crime in Thamel.

The center is equipped with a help desk, online and hotline phone services, and CCTV surveillance system. Tourists can get information related to Nepal’s tourism by dialing 1144.

Likewise, a ‘Tourist Police Mobile App’ has also been launched by the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari today.
