CMP is dull and prosaic: NC General Secretary Thapa
Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary and Member of Parliament Gagan Kumar Thapa has termed the common minimum program (CMP) introduced by the government on Thursday as dull and essay-like.
Speaking at a special time of the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, the NC General Secretary expressed displeasure at the government’s policy and program.
Thapa opined that as the leader of the team the Prime Minister has to be inspiring and prompting to the duties assigned to the Ministers.
He urged the Prime Minister to execute the duties assuming that he (PM Dahal) would be in power just for six months.
NC General Secretary Thapa assured that the entire Parliament would support the Prime Minister and asked him to work fearlessly in improving the personnel system, ending impunity like usury and human trafficking.
Exemplary progress has been made in health sector: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’ Prachanda’ has said the government prioritizes improving the quality of health services and making it accessible to the general public.
Giving a video message on the occasion of the 75th World Health Day today, he maintained that emphasis has been laid on expanding the primary health services for making the concept of universal access to health practicable.

Decision not to prosecute Rabi Lamichhane is lawful: Attorney General Pokharel
Attorney General Dr. Dinmani Pokharel has replied that the decision not to pursue a case against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane in passport misuse allegation was made according to the legal procedure.
Although Lamichhane himself admitted to the court that he had obtained a Nepali passport while having American citizenship and a passport, the Attorney General’s Office decided not to pursue a case against him on March 20.
Government declares Padam Limbu a martyr
The government has declared Padam Limbu, who lost his life in the agitation against the naming of Koshi province, as a martyr.
Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kiranti informed that the cabinet meeting held on Friday morning decided to declare Limbu a martyr.
The government has also decided to give compensation to his family.
“It has not been decided how much money will be provided,” he said.
Earlier, even though the Koshi State government had decided to give compensation of Rs 3 lakh to Limbu’s family, the protestors rejected the amount.
CMP a document of national consensus: PM Dahal
Soon after unveiling the government’s Common Minimum Program (CMP) on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that the CMP was a document of national consensus.
Prime Minister Dahal labeled it as a document of national consensus as it includes the opinions of the parties that were part of the government before.
“It can be called a common minimum common program of national consensus. This is a program common for all,” he said, while pledging that everyone concerned including the Prime Minister, the Ministers and civil administration would implement the common policies and programs honestly.
By-election: Code of Conduct comes into effect today
The Code of Conduct for the by-election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on April 23 has come into effect Friday (April 7).
According to the Election Commission, the code of conduct shall remain in force in Chitwan, Bara and Tahanu districts from April 7 until the completion of the election.
EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel said the EC is implementing the code of conduct by exercising the right granted to it by clause 22 of the Election Act, 2017 and clause 1 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2079 BS.
The lower house by-elections are taking place in Chitwan constituency-2, Bara-2 and Tanahu-1.
