MPs draw govt attention to contemporary issues



KATHMANDU: Lawmakers have demanded that the government addresses several issues including the murder of two children in Rukum East, the government’s common minimum program, the election to the Free Students Union (FSU), and inclusive ideology.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, they have also expressed their concerns about the removal of the government’s program of the distribution of the national identity card to all citizens within a year, and the fixation on minimum remuneration of workers.

Kusum Devi Thapa from Nepali Congress demanded investigations into the murder of two children in Rukum East and action against the murderer(s). She stressed the need for launching awareness programs to reduce the maternal mortality rate under the Sustainable Development Goals.

CPN (UML)’s Mahesh Kumar Bartaula accused the government of not following the court’s verdict that NSU poll in campuses in the Kathmandu Valley, Patan, Amrit Science, Ratnarajya, and Nepal Commerce should be reorganized.

Similarly, Manish Jha from Rastriya Swatantra Party demanded that issues like granting franchise right to Nepalis residing in foreign countries, the management of a time clock in government offices, and making the university umbrella act be included in the government’s minimum common programs.
