BHARATPUR: A drinking water project has been completed at a cost of Rs 90 million at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29.
Three hundred fifty families have been benefitted with the completion of the project.
The project was constructed at a cost of Rs 59.5 million of the federal government and province government and Rs 17.5 million of Bharatpur metropolitan city.
Similarly, locals provided voluntary labour worth Rs 6.2 million for the construction of the drinking water project.
The project was completed after five years. Locals of Lamidanda, Thamdanda, Lamagaun, Kamalpur, Dhungre, Chipleti, Aarubote and Satisdanda have been benefitted from this project.
Earlier, the locals had to walk around half-an-hour to fetch drinking water. Project Secretary Keshav Dhakal said eight million litre capacity water collection tank has been constructed while another water tank of 200,000 litre capacity at Thamdanda to distribute water.
With the construction of the drinking water project, problem of drinking water at the area, only the hilly area of Bharatpur metropolitan city, has ended, said ward chairperson Surya Bahadur Gurung.
