Assault attempts on Maoist Center leader Angbo in Taplejung



BIRATNAGAR: There has been an attempt to attack Indra Bahadur Angbo, the Koshi Province parliamentary party leader of the CPN-Maoist Center on Tuesday.

According to sources, a group of people disappointed at the naming of Province 1 as Koshi province tried to attack leader Angbo in Taplejung.

Angbo’s vehicle was attacked and sustained minor damage in the attack.

According to DSP Rajan Limbu of District Police Office Taplejung, the person who attacked the vehicle on the way to Fungling market has not been identified yet.

“Stones were thrown at the vehicle 7-8 km below Fungling market”, DSP Limbu said, adding, “The attacker has not been identified yet, we are investigating.”

After naming the province Koshi, the groups who have been demanding to keep the name on the basis of ethnic identity, have taken to protest.
Earlier, a group attempted to attack the vehicle of Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki in Okhaldhunga on Monday.

After the incident, the chief minister returned to Biratnagar shortening his visit to Okhaldhunga.
