Chinese national flying to Dhaka arrested at TIA with illegal foreign currency

KATHMANDU: A Chinese national, who was about to fly from Kathmandu to Dhaka, Bangladesh, from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) was arrested with illegal foreign currency.

Chai Hunan, a Chinese passenger of flight number BG 372 of Bangladesh, was arrested by Nepal Police at TIA on Thursday with about 10,000 US dollars and about 30,000 Bangladeshi takas.

Dollars and taka were found during an x-ray screening of his handbag carried by the 52-year-old Chinese national, the carrier of passport number EA8967407, near the departure hall of the international flight.

According to the police, he was carrying there US$ 9,100 and 29,500 Bangladeshi takas in his bag.
