Workers announce public transport strike in Kathmandu from Tuesday



KATHMANDU: Protesting transport workers have announced a strike of public transport in Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday.

Nepal Transport Independent Workers’ Organization, All Nepal Transport Workers’ Union and Nepal Transport Workers’ Union called for public transport shutdown on Tuesday.

They have accused the government of not implementing the agreement reached between the government and the transport workers.

Bhim Jwala Rai, President of Nepal Transport Independent Workers’ Organization, said that they were compelled to call a strike of public transport due to the government’s indifference towards their demands.

They have also accused the traffic police of unnecessarily giving them trouble under various pretexts.
