By-election in Chitwan-2 to be held on April 23



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold by-election in Chitwan constituency-2 on April 23.

According to Section 68 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074, the meeting of the Election Commission held on Sunday, decided to hold by-election for the Member of the House of Representatives in Chitwan constituency-2.

Earlier, Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was elected from Chitwan constituency-2 in the election held on November 20.

However, Lamichhane’s position was removed after the Supreme Court ruled that he renounced Nepali citizenship and took American citizenship and did not complete the process of re-acquiring Nepali citizenship after relinquishing American citizenship.
