Windstorm kills 14 in Rajasthan



NEW DELHI: Fourteen people died and over 50 sustained injuries due to a windstorm accompanied with heavy rain at Barmer of Rajasthan State of India on Sunday.

The incidents took place when a large tarpaulin fell down over  hundreds of people attending a religious program said Indian officials.

According to BBC, the condition of some of those injured is said to be critical.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gelhot have expressed sadness over death of the people in the incident.

Chief Minister Gelhot has announced Rs 500,000 each to the deceased’s families and free treatment expenses to the injured.
