Avaricious coalition led the country towards regression: KP Oli
CPN-UML chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli has accused the ruling coalition of being regressive.
Addressing the election rally in Raskot, Kalikot on Sunday, the UML chair termed the ruling coalition as the alliance of power-avarice groups and accused it of leading the country towards aggression.
“The alliance of the reactionary and avaricious groups should be broken,” he said, “It is high time for the people to be aware of the conspiracy of the regressive forces and vote for the carriers of the change and transformation.”
Ravi Lamichhane’s campaign vehicle vandalized in Chitwan
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman and House of Representatives Member candidate from Chitwan 2 Ravi Lamichhane’s campaign vehicle has been vandalized in Chitwan on Sunday afternoon.
According to sources, the vehicle was vandalized near Muglin today.
The windscreen of the Ba 14 Chha 7684 is broken in the incident.
The video of a young man climbing on a car and kicking it and breaking the glass has been released by the RSP leader Deepak Bohra.
Nepal for first time co-hosting 2027 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup
Nepal is for the first time co-hosting the 2027 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Nepal and Bangladesh are jointly hosting the World Cup, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
This opportunity of Nepal to co-host the World Cup would help develop cricket infrastructure and uplift quality of the sports, said Chatur Bahadur Chand, President of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
MoFAGA urges local levels to provide buildings, physical structures for November 20 polls
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) has urged all 753 local levels to provide their buildings, premises and physical structures for the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly.
The Ministry on Friday issued a circular and directed to this effect, said Chiranjabi Nepal, section officer at the Ministry.
It has also asked them to promptly swing into action in this regard.
Landless squatters’ problems will be resolved: NC candidate Singh
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh, who is running in the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives from Kathmandu constituency 1, has said he would take initiatives to resolve problems of the landless squatters.
To deal with land-related issues, the National Land Commission was formed, and a permanent solution to their problems would be sought acting on a report provided by the Commission, he said at an election program organized along the Bagmati River banks at Thapathali, Kathmandu.
Diversion Project will cost Kaligandaki’s civilization: NC leader Shashanka Koirala
Nepali Congress (NC) leader and candidate for the House of Representatives (HoR) from the East Nawalparasi-1, Dr Shashanka Koirala, has pledged to stand against the Kaligandaki Diversion Project “as it poses a threat to the Kaligandaki Civilization.”
In his address to an election assembly at his constituency, the leader stressed that the Project should be ceased as it is capable of destroying the Kaligandaki Civilization.
The Kaligandaki River is the life line of the locals in terms of religious, cultural, economic and ecological aspects and no project capable of causing implications on its existence could be entertained, according to him.
Leopard-in-house captured in Naikap, Kathmandu
A leopard which had entered a house in Naikap has been captured on Sunday afternoon.
According to Thankot police, a leopard was seen in the vegetable tunnel at Thakurigaun, Purano Naikap at around 9 am. However, it is not sure whether the captured leopard is the same.
The leopard that is in human net now is 15 kg. The police said that the captured leopard is a baby.
Nepali CBO awarded 15,000 Euros
The Community Development and Advocacy Forum working in various districts of Madhes Province in Nepal received an award of 15,000 Euros.
The Forum received the award in the local innovation category under the Local Adaptation Champion Award, granted by the Global Center on Adaptation based in the Netherlands.
The award was handed over at an event under the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-27) underway here since last Sunday.
No permits required for essential service vehicles on voting day
The Election Commission (EC) says vehicle passes would not be required for the vehicles used by essential services on the voting day.
The EC has made this arrangement for the convenience of the smooth operation of vehicles used for the essential services on the voting day on November 20.
EC stated that vehicle passes would not be required for ambulance, hearse, fire trucks, water supply tanker, vehicles transporting garbage, milk vans, vehicles used for telecom and cable services and the vehicles carrying doctors, health service workers and employees holding hospital identity cards.
Bicycle rider dies after falling off bridge
A bicycle rider has died after falling off a bridge at Ghailadubba of Mechinagar in Jhapa district.
The deceased has been identified as Hom Bahadur Pokharel, 45, of Buddhashanti-5.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, said the police.
Gold price rises by Rs 600 Sunday
The price of gold has increased by Rs 600 in the domestic market on Sunday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the hallmark gold is being traded at Rs 97,300 per tola and the price of worked gold is Rs 96,800 per tola.
Gold was traded at Rs 96,700 on Friday.
NEPSE loses 10.54 points to close at 1,883.16
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has lost 10.54 points to close at 1,883.16 points on Sunday.
Similarly, the sensitive index fell 1.83 points to close at 370.53 points.
A total of 2,028,348 units of shares of 225 companies were traded for Rs 774 million.
All sub-indices closed red today.
Nepal sees 15 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 15 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Sunday.
Of the confirmed cases, 14 were detected through the RT-PCR method and one through the Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,985 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
