Parliamentary special panel recommends to keep 15 federal and five provincial ministries

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly’s parliamentary special committee for federalism study, implementation and monitoring has recommended to have only 15 federal ministries and 5 state ministries.

The National Assembly formed special panel on Jestha 20, 2079 (June 3, 2022) to study the political, financial, and administrative foundations for the implementation of federalism and prepare a report with appropriate recommendations.

The committee chaired by Khimlal Devkota delivered its report and recommendations to Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timalsina on Thursday.

Similarly, the report proposed enacting legislation governing employee accountability, installing closed-circuit television cameras in public places, and establishing a high-level administrative reform commission chaired by the prime minister.

Likewise, it has been proposed to eliminate half of the union’s employees, not promote government employees who have not served for two years, transfer the responsibility of the chief administrative officer of the local level to the state government, and maintain uniformity in all states’ vehicle taxes.

Similarly, it has been proposed to fix the budget limits of all three governments in order to eliminate the crusher industry, which is operating illegally. A budget limit has also been proposed.

The Chief Secretary and others were present at the program held in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.
