UML Chair Oli in Lakuribhanjyang, Lalitpur to prepare party’s poll manifesto
CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has reached Lakuribhanjyang in Lalitpur to prepare the manifesto of the party for the November 20 elections.
He along with some UML leaders reached a resort in Lakuribhanjyang, Lalitpur, on Saturday.
According to UML chair’s secretariat, Oli studied and analyzed the suggestions received for the preparation of the manifesto.
Prachanda visits Gorkha Durbar
CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ made an onsite visit to historical Gorkha Durbar, which was reconstructed after the Gorkha Earthquake.
Chairman Prachanda, who is also a candidate from the ruling alliance in Gorkha Constituency No. 2 for the federal parliament, visited the Gorkha Durbar this morning.
On the occasion, Dahal stressed the need of more publicity of the Gorkha Durbar that carries historical legacy.
Alliance with NC for prosperity: Leader Dr Bhattarai
Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Nepal Socialist Party, Dr Baburam Bhattarai, has said the alliance with Nepali Congress was not only for election but for country’s prosperity.
Leader Bhattarai said it while addressing a joint gathering of the cadres of left-democratic alliance in Gorkha on Saturday.
He reminded, “We came together against regression. It was imperative in deed.” He further said without collaboration between leftist and Nepali Congress, country would not see durable peace, and absence of durable peace results in elusive national unity.
‘NC-Maoist partnership a must to take transitional justice to a logical end’
CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Barshaman Pun said Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) should meaningfully collaborate to take the protracted transitional justice to a logical conclusion.
At a press conference organized by the coalition partners in Rolpa district headquarters, Liwang, on Saturday, leader Pun said backlog of peace process would not complete without collaboration between the Nepali Congress and Maoists – the two partners of the peace process.
Former Minister Pun claimed that they were successful in forging coalition in all electoral constituencies across the country amidst uncertainty on electoral partnership. The rebel candidacy which was around 200 in numbers across the country has now reduced to 10, he further noted.
Kalinga Literary Festival begins in Kathmandu
The two-day-long Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) has kicked off in Kathmandu on Saturday (today) with the objective of promoting art, culture and literature.
Inaugurating the KLF, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Academy Dr Jagman Gurung shed lights on the contributions made by the literary figures to establish linkages between the two civilizations.
“Though the civilization made by the Sarswoti river vanished in India, the Bagmati civilization is still active in Nepal. Nepal and India have shared cultures in Bara’s Gadhimai and other sites too,” Vice-Chancellor Gurung said.
CEC Thapaliya directs to adhere to election code of conduct
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has directed a strict adherence to the election code of conduct, 2079.
Complaints in writing or verbal about the violation of the code of conduct should be filed with the EC, he said at a meeting of the district election code of conduct monitoring committee here in Pokhara today.
Thapaliya asked the district code of conduct monitoring officers to seek clarification within 24 hours from the election candidates if they were found breaching the code of conduct.
9th National Games: Seven gold medals decided in athletics
Athletes won seven gold medals in athletics under the ongoing 9th National Games in Pokhara till this afternoon.
In men and women’s 1,500 meters race, Mukesh Pal and Phulmati Rana clinched the gold medals.
Pal from the Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) completed the race in 3 minutes 52.21 seconds. In the competition, Ajit Yadav and Nageshwor Air, both from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, finished second and third respectively. Rana from APF Nepal finished in 4 minutes 38.19 seconds.
Nepal sees 52 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 52 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.
Of the confirmed cases, 45 were detected through the RT-PCR method and seven through Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,763 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
