Hong Kong protesters press for extradition bill to be axed

HONG KONG: Thousands of protestors dressed in black rallied in Hong Kong today demanding for the full withdrawal of the extradition bill, which triggered protests in the financial hub.

Protestors disrupted traffic on major streets in a peaceful protest demanding that the controversial bill be scrapped.

Chan Pak-lam, 17, a high school student, protesting in the sweltering heat of about 30 degrees Celsius said they want to fight for their freedom.

Chan said they want the law to be withdrawn completely.

Hong Kong leader, Carrie Lam, had earlier promoted the bill and later postponed it following pressure from the protesters. (Agencies)
