NC closely watching activities of Koirala faction: Spokesperson Mahat

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said the party was closely watching the activities of the Shekhar Koirala faction.

Speaking at a press conference held at NC central party office, in Sanepa, Lalitpur, on Tuesday, Dr Mahat claimed that the closed list of proportional representatives (PR) candidates was prepared through consensus.

Stating that the closed list was not made by favoring any one faction, he said that the current protests of the Koirala faction were not in the interest of the NC and totally unnecessary.

He said, “The closed list was prepared and submitted with the consent of NC office bearers, former office bearers and members of the parliamentary board. The list also contains some errors. Also, we have not prepared it by favoring a certain faction and ignoring the other. The allegation that the closed list was prepared unilaterally without adequate is completely false.”

Referring to the protests being held by the Koirala faction, he said that such activities were not appropriate and not in line with party discipline.

Meanwhile, NC office bearers meeting is underway to discuss the closed list of PR candidates in view of the Koirala faction’s dissatisfaction.
