Minister Shrestha leaves for Canada to attend 41st ICAO Assembly



KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, left Kathmandu on Monday to take part in the 41st triennial International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s Assembly.

The Minister-led legation to the ICAO Assembly also includes the Director General at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

The ICAO Session kicking off at Madrigal on Tuesday will bring together representatives from 193 nations across the world.

Minister Shrestha will be apprising the world community about Nepal endeavors towards the strengthening of aviation security.

According to the Minister’s Private Secretariat, he will apprise the Session about Nepal’s accomplishments in the expansion of aviation service, airport upgrading and the construction of new airports.

The Assembly to run till October 7 will discuss various issues such as environment conservation, flight security and facilitation, enhancement of flight capacity and efficiently, air transport and economic development, aviation policies, strategies and issues persisting in this sector.

The Session will observe a voting of members nations.

The Nepali delegation will return home on October 5.
