RCC bridge makes Tanahu folks’ lives easier

DAMAULI: Gajsingh Gurung of Rishing rural municipality-8 in Tanahu district used to face difficulties in crossing Phedi rivulet in monsoon. Winter brought some ease but monsoon often appeared as a pressing problem to cross the River.

It’s a thing of the past now with the construction of a Reinforced Concrete Cement (RCC) bridge over Phedi rivulet. Built with support of Gandaki Province government, the bridge connecting Rishing rural municipality with Bhimad municipality has brought cheers and respite to the thousands of locals here.

Gurung recalled, “Locals in this area suffered a lot in absence of a bridge over the rivulet. Now with the construction of the bridge, it has become easier for them.”

The local produces have got market in Bhimad Bazaar following the construction of RCC bridge. Locals in Bhimad Bazaar, Ramjakot in Rishing rural municipality and Kot Durbar among others are also directly benefited after the construction of the bridge, added Til Bahadur Thapa of Bhimad municipality-5.

The river had swept away a school-goer child some four years ago as well, shared Thapa, echoing Gurung that the construction of bridge has offered respite.

This bridge is one among the four built by the provincial government at the total cost of Rs 160 million in the last fiscal year.

The construction cost of bridge over Phedi rivulet was over Rs 40 million, informed Dhanamaya Mishra, Information Officer at the Infrastructure Development Office under the Gandaki Province.
