NARAYANGADH: The Road Division Office in Bharatpur has intensified repair and maintenance of national highways and rural roads ahead of the upcoming festivals, when vehicular movement is expected to increase.
Floods, landslides, and rainfall have damaged several road sections, prompting the office to accelerate repair work to facilitate smoother and safer travel.
Krishna Prasad Acharya, information officer at the office, told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that maintenance work was underway on highways and local roads to ensure the safety of travellers. Although road maintenance is carried out regularly, additional attention has been given to repairs this year, he said.
“Our aim is to ensure safe travel for road users,” Acharya said.
According to him, repair and maintenance work is being carried out on several routes, including Narayangadh–Muglin, Narayangadh–Lothar, Bharatpur–Madi, Bharatpur–Meghauli, and Nawalpur–Kaligandaki. Most sections of these roads have already undergone maintenance.
Acharya said continuous rainfall and the movement of heavily loaded vehicles exceeding the roads’ load-bearing capacity had also contributed to road damage.
Emulsion patching and rectifix patching techniques are being used to repair damaged road surfaces and restore road conditions.
