Li commits to open Rasuwa and Tatopani border points before Dashain



KATHMANDU: China has agreed to open the Rasuwa and Tatopani checkpoints before the Dashain festival.

Visiting China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee Chairman Li Zhanshu on Tuesday expressed the commitment to reopen the two checkpoints before the Dashain festival.

Li said this during his meeting with National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ganesh Timilsena on Tuesday morning.

Timilsena had urged the Chinese side to open Rasuwa and Tatopani checkpoints before Dashain.

According to Timilsena’s press expert Ashok Paudel, Li committed to taking the initiative to reopen it soon at Timalsina’s request.

Similarly, the two sides also discussed the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and other multilateral partnerships and parliamentary partnerships during the meeting.

NA Chairman Timilsena also reiterated Nepal’s position on the “One China policy”.

Meanwhile, as part of his political meetings in Kathmandu, Li held talks with CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli and Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Tuesday.

According to the UML party, the meeting was held at the Parliament House in Naya Baneswor.
