149 docs fail NMC’s medical specialist exam



KATHMANDU: As many as 149 doctors have failed the Nepal Medical Council (NMC)’s medical specialist examination.

A total of 474 examinees participated in the 23rd medical specialist registration examination conducted by NMC on Saturday. Of the total examinees, 325 (68.6) percent passed and 149 (31.4 percent) failed the exam.

NMC Registrar Dr. Krishna Prasad Adhikari said examines who held Master’s degree in 45 different subjects appeared in the exam.

The examination held at the Information and Communication Technology Center of the Institute of Engineering Studies at Pulchok was conducted in two phases from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Before this, 77 percent of the participants passed medical specialist registration exam held on February 4 and 5, 2022.

Currently, about 30,133 doctors are registered with NMC in the country. Of them, over 8,000 are registered as specialist doctors.
