NC CWC: Ministers furnishing response to central members’ concerns

KATHMANDU: Ministers representing the Nepali Congress (NC) are scheduled to furnish their responses to the meeting of the NC Central Working Committee today.

The CWC meeting has been scheduled for 1 pm at the party’s central office, Sanepa today.

It’s been one year since the formation of the government led by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on July 13.

Party central members have been criticizing the government for failing to control inflation, and failing to perform as per the people’s aspirations.

On Wednesday, NC leader Prakash Man Singh said the government had failed to work effectively.

Nepali Congress ministers in the PM Deuba-led cabinet include Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand; Minister for Information, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki; Uma Regmi, Minister for Women and Children; Dilendra Prasad Badu, Minister for Industry; Narayan Khadka, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Umakanta Chaudhary, Minister for Drinking Water and Umesh Shrestha as a State Minister for Education.

Likewise, Prime Minister Deuba has taken charge of the Ministry of Finance and Defense.

The government led by Prime Minister Deuba on Wednesday claimed it ended political instability and misgovernance caused by the previous CPN-UML government in the last one year.

The government, in its report released on the occasion of its 100-days, claimed that the country was able to move forward democratically.

It also claimed that the local elections were held peacefully within the stipulated time, and that its priority to control COVID-19, and to vaccinate all eligible citizens were also accomplished.

The Supreme Court had dissolved the cabinet led by the then Prime Minister KP Oli and issued a mandamus to appoint Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister.

The government in its report has publicized 43 works that have been accomplished within 100 days of its formation.

The tasks accomplished by the government include a special package to revive the affected economy, successful economic mobilization, adoption of foreign policy based on national interest, and provision of the special economic package for crisis industries.

It has also claimed that the tourism business saw growth, and that it was able to work satisfactorily in sectors such as communication, transportation and uplift of working-class, poor, and unemployed people, among others.

Likewise, it has also claimed a balanced ‘Nepal First’ foreign policy has been implemented, an investment-friendly environment has been created and the private sector has been encouraged to achieve economic stability.

The government has listed the acceleration of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Establishment of Land Commission and Identity of Landless and Squatters by Land Commission, the announcement of Distribution of Parts to 500,000 Landless, including other works as its major achievements during the period.
