CCP Int’l Department Chief Liu “thanks” Unified Socialist leaders for blocking SPP

KATHMANDU: Chief of the International Relations Department of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Liu Jianchao, who is currently in Nepal on a four-day visit, expressed gratitude to Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Socialist, and its leaders for playing a role in blocking the State Partnership Program (SPP), a United States’ program.

During a one-hour meeting at the Everest Hotel in New Baneshwor on Tuesday, Jianchao, who spent most of his time expressing grudges against the United States, thanked the leaders, including Chairman Nepal, for not accepting the SPP, a Socialist leader, who attended the meeting told Khabarhub.

Citing Liu’s remarks at the meeting, he said, “We are very pleased with the wise decision you have made within the ruling coalition to stop the SPP.”

During the discussion, Liu emphasized unity among Nepal’s communist parties, the leader said.

He said that unity is the only strength that benefits the country and the communist movement.

In the meeting, Chairman Nepal said that the Unified Socialists party was committed not to allow Nepali land to be used against China and was always consistently ready to expand relations with China.

Unified Socialist leaders, including senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal, Vice-Chairman Pramesh Hamal and Jayanti Rai, Deputy General Secretaries Jagannath Khatiwada, Gangalal Tuladhar and Prakash Jwala were present at the meeting.

It should be noted that Liu, during his meetings with Nepal’s political leaders, has reportedly lobbied to “discourage and discredit” Nepal-US relations. Instead, it is exerting pressure on Nepali political leaders to “further strengthen” Nepal-China relations.
