KATHMANDU: In the first 11 months of the current Fiscal Year 2021/22, Nepal, an agricultural country, has imported vegetables worth Rs. 34.15 billion from different countries.
According to the Department of Customs, vegetables of the same value entered Nepal in the period from mid-July 2021 to mid-June 2022.
Nepal imported 305.6 million kg of potatoes worth Rs 7.63 billion in the last 11 months of the current fiscal year.
Likewise, Nepal imported 45.813 million kg of tomatoes worth Rs. 611.59 million, according to the statistics of the department.
In the same period, 105.38 million kg of onions worth Rs 5.63 billion have been imported to Nepal.
Similarly, Nepal has imported 8.68 million kg of garlic worth Rs. 999.39 million in the last 11 months.
According to the Department, mushrooms worth Rs. 207.05 million, frozen potatoes worth Rs. 285.08 million, ginger worth Rs. 172.9 million, peas worth Rs 3.73 billion, and grams worth Rs. 3.30 billion has entered Nepal.
Likewise, the Department said that Nepal imported pulses worth Rs 4.15 billion in the last 11 months.
