Two injured in gas explosion at petrol pump in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Two people have been injured in a gas explosion at Kanak Petrol Pump at Teku in Kathmandu on Sunday.

The injured were identified as Kishori Shaha of Jagannathpur rural municipality in Parsa district and Deepak Kumar Shah from the same place and currently staying at Kalimati in Kathmandu, police said.

According to the Police Range, Kathmandu, the explosion occurred accidentally when the fuel burst in the evening, informed Superintendent of Police Dineshraj Mainali.

The explosion took place while welding the cover of the tank, added police.

Kishori’s left leg has been fractured while her right leg, face, both hands and bust have been burnt in the incident while Deepak’s left cheek has been burnt.

Both injured ones were receiving treatment at the National Trauma Centre in Kathmandu. Investigation into the case was underway, police said.
