NEPSE rises by double digits Tuesday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has improved by double digits on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week.

The NEPSE, which closed at 2200.88 points on Monday, has improved by 0.74 percent today.

Today, the market index NEPSE increased by 16.32 points and closed at 2217.19 points.

Despite the modest improvement in the stock market index, the transaction amount came down to one billion Tuesday.

Shares worth Rs 1.88 billion were traded in the market with the founder of NIC Asia Microfinance having the highest turnover of Rs 48.48 million. Similarly, Upper Tamakoshi had a turnover of Rs 46.3 million while Arun Kabeli Power had a turnover of Rs 44.9 million.

All sub-indices except trade and mutual funds have risen due to double-digit increase in the share market.

Of the 192 companies traded on the day, 149 rose and 38 declined. Share prices of five companies remained stable.

Of those traded on the day, Laxmi Microfinance rose by 5.95 percent, Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower by 5.58 percent and Vijay Microfinance 4.38 percent.

Shares of Lumbini General Insurance and Suryodaya Womi Microfinance fell by 5.39 percent and 4.25 percent, respectively, as the share price of Corporate Development Bank closed at a negative circuit level.
