Bharatpur people have to wait for more days to see full restoration of power supply

BHARATPUR: The power supply system in the Bharatpur metropolis that was disrupted by the recent windstorm is yet to be fully restored. The storm occurred in the late evening of Friday and caused the toppling of trees and electric poles.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Bharatpur distribution center, 140 electric poles collapsed during the high wind and it will take five days more to restore them completely and resume the power supply at a regular pace. As Center chief Rajib Kumar Singh said, electric wires have got snapped at various places due to the pole’s collapse and the Center has mobilized its entire technical team and hired other teams as well to restore the structures.

Power supply has been already reinstated at hospitals, security agencies, vote counting venues for the May 13 local polls, and drinking water supply stations with much priority.

There is an issue in the power distribution from the Bharatpur sub-station and there is no problem in the Chanauli sub-station, according to center engineer Rajendra Poudel.

Bharatpur, Narayangadh Bazaaran and areas up to Ratnanagar Kharihani in eastern Chitwan are marred by the power disruption problems.
The windstorm caused an infrastructural loss of Rs three million for the NEA and disrupted the consumption of power worth Rs 50 million.
Disruption of power supply for three days has affected the mobile phone, water and internet services.

Three people had lost their lives to the storm-caused incidences while 11 were injured. The storm brought down many trees at major areas in the city, damaging the electricity structures. (RSS)
