Gambu Sherpa wins in Khijidemba



OKHALDHUNGA: Gambu Sherpa of Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal has won the election as the Chairperson of Khijidemba Rural Municipality in Okhaldhunga district.

Sherpa won the poll with a margin of 130 votes against Bhupendra Basnet of Nepali Congress (NC).

Sherpa got 2,882 votes while Basnet garnered 2,752 votes.

Likewise, Sushila Tamang of NC emerged victorious as the Vice-Chairperson by getting 2,824 votes, Election Officer Bishnu Hari Baral said.

Sherpa had joined politics after returning home from his stay in China, the USA and other countries.

Newly elected Chairman Sherpa is also a good singer. He had quit his US citizenship some months ago, it is said.
