4 temporary police personnel die; 48 terminated



KATHMANDU: Four temporary police officials have died and 49 others have faced action for various reasons across the country.

Temporary police official Durga Singh Basnet died in Sindhupalchowk and Yogendra Neupane passed away in Nuwakot due to accidents said Spokesperson SSP Bishnu Kumar KC.

Similarly, Jas Bahadur Roka of Banke was found dead in his room in Humla while Anita Bhattarai of Sindhupalchowk committed suicide by consuming poison, according to KC.

A cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to provide Rs 2 million each to the families of the deceased. However, this decision does not apply to the suicidal case, an official at the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

Meanwhile, 48 temporary police personnel have been relieved of their responsibilities for alcohol consumption, misusing social media, and disobedience.

The government had deployed 100,000 temporary police personnel from April 11 after imparting a one-week training for a 40-day duty in view of the May 13 local level elections.

The temporary police personnel had been selected from March 29 to April 5.

The vacancies for the temporary police personnel had been announced from March 20 to 25.
