KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Papua New Guinea by 15 runs in the first match of the triangular Twenty20 International Cricket Series undergoing in Kathmandu.
Papua New Guinea lost after failing to meet Nepal’s target of 184 runs.
Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal added 183 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs on Monday.
Asif Sheikh scored 43, Rohit Poudel 34 and Arif Sheikh 31 runs for Nepal.
Papua New Guinea, who had to meet a target of 184, lost all their wickets with four balls to spare and could add only 168 runs.
For Nepal, captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC took 3 wickets each. Similarly, Avinash Bohora took 2 wickets while Sompal Kami took 1 wicket.
The second match of the series involving Malaysia will be played tomorrow between Malaysia and Papua New Guinea at Kirtipur ground.
