12 youths stranded in Saudi Arabia return home

DOHA: Twelve of the 145 Nepali youths stranded in Saudi Arabia returned to Nepal on Thursday.

They had arrived in Saudi Arabia 45 days ago via Blue Galaxy Overseas in Sinamangal, Kathmandu.

The news was made public by Khabarbub after the stranded workers complained that they did not get the job and salary as per the agreement.

After the news became public, the Saudi Arabia-based Eastern Construction Maintenance Company sent 12 people including Sonahang Rai, Durga Bahadur Siwakoti, Dhan Bahadur Bishwakarma, Subharaj Bishwakarma, and Bharat Neupane to Nepal.

They had reached Saudi Arabia by paying Rs 180,000 to Rs 200,000 per person to Ramesh Amgain and Himhari Aryal of Blue Galaxy Overseas Company in Kathmandu.

They complained that the Blue Galaxy had sent them to Saudi Arabia to work as cleaners and gardeners inside a Saudi Army Camp.

But when they arrived they were compelled to work as laborers, and even clean the streets.

Sonahang Rai, meanwhile, informed that the owner of the company even thrashed five Nepalis while returning to Nepal alleging them for complaining to the media.

Another victim, Subharaj Bishwakarma, said that the company authorities even used to hit him on the back with a metal rod.

Meanwhile, the company also connected AC and gas in the rooms of Nepalis there on Wednesday evening.

“After the news came in the media, the company connected AC and gas in the room,” said a Nepali who was stranded there.
