HoR meeting adjourned again, next meeting scheduled for March 13

HoR forms impeachment recommendation committee

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned after the continuation of CPN-UML lawmakers’ protest on Sunday.

As soon as the HoR meeting  scheduled for 1 pm started, the main opposition party UML lawmakers started chanting slogans.

Despite their sloganeering, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota gave time to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu to present the annual report of the Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority. Badu presented the annual report to the House on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Similarly, the Speaker proposed a 11 member impeachment recommendation committee.

Although UML has been in a protest in the parliament, the list of lawmakers in proposed for impeachment committee includes the name of UML lawmakers as well.

However, as the UML protest did not go down, Speaker Sapkota adjourned the meeting till Sunday, March 13.

UML has been continuously obstructing the parliament since September 8. UML has demanded that the speaker should resign if action is not taken against 14 defecting lawmakers including Madhav Nepal.
