Entrepreneurs emphasize on preservation of Rani Mahal



RAMPUR: Local entrepreneurs of Rampur here emphasized the need for preserving the Rani Mahal which lies on the bank of Kali Gandaki in Palpa district.

The palace constructed by Khagda Sumsher Rana in commemoration of his consort Tej Kumari Rana in 1954 BS, lies around kilometers east of Tansen — district headquarters.

Vice President of Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shailendra Bhattarai suggested that the collection of the entrance fee of the visitors should be used for the protection of the historic site.

He opined that basic amenities such as food, accommodation for tourists visiting Rani Mahal need to be provided. The historic monument attracts around 3,000 to 10,000 domestic and foreign visitors every day.

Likewise, President of Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bhojendra Prakash Dhakal said the visitors coming to Lumbini — the birthplace of Lord Buddha – can be attracted to Rani Mahal.

Local entrepreneurs focused on the development of basic infrastructures, including motorable roads, which they claimed is prerequisite to bringing in more visitors to Rani Mahal, which has a temple, two ponds, a garden, and accommodation for female devotees.
