KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Tuesday.
The two leaders have been intensifying discussions between them as the ruling coalition partners are polarized over the United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
UML Chair Oli reached Baluwatar to hold talks with Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Deuba this evening.
Sources said UML Senior Vice Chairman Ishwor Pokharel and Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel also particiating in the meeting.
Last week, PM Deuba and first lady Arzu Rana had reached Balkot to meet the opposition leader.
Chair Oli has told PM Deuba that he would coorperate with the NC only after the ruling alliance is dismantled.
The meeting today is viewed significantly, as the NC has been indicating that the coalition partners quit the government if they do not support government-tabled MCC grant.
The Maoist Center and CPN-Unified Socialist have said that they would vote against MCC in parliament and this has created friction in the ruling coalition as the NC looks to ratify the agreement.
The UML is also not in good terms with Maoist Center and Unified Socialist, who are ruling parties as of today.
