Maoist Center to quit govt if MCC tabled without coalition’s consent

KATHMANDU: The ruling party Maoist Center said it would quit the government if it tabled the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in the Parliament without the ruling alliance’s consent.

A meeting of the Maoist Central Parliamentary Party held on Wednesday morning concluded that the MCC cannot be passed without amendment and decided to quit the government.

Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has gone to Baluwatar to discuss the issue with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Chief Whip of the Maoist Center, Dev Gurung, said that the ruling alliance would be broken if the government tabled the MCC without the consent of the alliance.

“It’s a five-party coalition government. Without the consent of the alliance, the MCC cannot be tabled,” Gurung said.

Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda urged the government not to table the MCC in today’s session of the Parliament.
