Miklajung massacre survivor handed over to Province 1 govt

KATHMANDU: The lone survivor of the Miklajung massacre  Sita Khajun,12, has been handed over to the Provincial government of Province 1.

Provincial government will take care of her studies, food and accommodation.

Khajum has been admitted to Martyrs Memorial Boarding School based in Itahari Sub Metropolitan City-19 at the initiation of Provincial Minister for Economic Affairs and Palling   Indra Bahadur Angbo.

Khajum managed to fee and save her life in the gruesome carnage that took place at night of May 20, killing nine family members at Arubote of Mikalajung Municipality-3, Panchthar.

Khajun who sustained arm injuries underwent treatment at Lifeline Hospital, Damak. Khajum had been saying in her maternal grandparents’ house after her biological father married a woman and her mother went for a second marriage.

Her grandfather Bam Bahadur Fiyak, grandmother, her youngest aunt, and her younger sister were brutally killed.

Similarly, other five members of Sherma family were also murdered at the same night. The preliminary investigation of the police has suspected hand of Man Bahadur Makhim, the youngest son-in-law of Bam Bahadur Fiyak, behind the incident.

Makhim was found hung the next morning.
