CoAS Sharma inspects Khalanga-Tinkar road

DARCHULA: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma has inspected the Tinkar road being constructed here by the Nepali Army on Thursday.

The CoAS, who is here in connection with his visit to the Sudurpaschim province, made an aerial observation of the road from a helicopter.

Chief District Officer Dirgha Raj Upadhyay said the Army Chief inspected the four-kilometer road from Tusarpani to Kothedhar of Byas rural municipality and the 87-kilometer road from Kothedhar to Tinkar from helicopter.

The government had last year decided to give the responsibility of constructing half of the Khalanga-Tinkar section of the road to the Nepali Army. Accordingly, the Bikas Dal Battalion has started construction works on different sections from Kothedhar to Dumling in Byas-2.

This road section is an important part of the strategic road that starts from Brahmadev of Kanchanpur and connects to Tinkar of Darchula district in Sudurpaschim province. Its construction was started in 2065/66 BS.
