Massive fire engulfs tea estate in Ilam



ILAM: A huge fire occurred in Antu Valley Tea Estate operated by Ilam Tea Producers located at Shriantu of Suryodaya Municipality-4 in Ilam district.

The fire that begun at 3:00 pm was yet to be extinguished and had destroyed property worth millions of rupees.

Information Officer at District Police Office, Ilam, Ganga Bahadur Thapa, informed that no complete information about the loss was received as the fire was not brought to control. The locals, police persons, and the armed police have been working hard to control the fire.

The police persons are mobilized from Area Police Office, Pashupatinagar, and a team of Armed Police Force from BoP26.

A local involved in controlling the fire, Rudra Ghimire, informed that the fire may have broken out due to short circuit. Fire engines are also used to bring the flame under control.

Ghimire added that 70 to 80 tons of processed tea was lost in fire.
