Committee formed to probe into charter flight irregularities



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Thursday formed a committee to carry out an investigation into irregularities in charter flights made for rescuing Nepali migrant workers from gulf countries during the first and second wave of coronavirus pandemic.

The three-member probe committee was formed under the coordination of Joint-Secretary at the Ministry, Hom Prasad Luintel where Under-Secretary at the Ministry, Tek Narayan Poudel, and acting Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Prem Nath Thakur, are the members.

The probe committee has been asked to submit its report within 10 days. The probe committee would start its work from Friday, said Coordinator Luintel.

Meanwhile, speaking at a photo exhibition organized by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts on Thursday, Tourism Minister Prem bahadur Ale said that an arrangement of budget would be made for Nepal Academy of Fine Arts even for the protection of art and culture. Similarly, Chancellor of the Academy, KK Karmacharya, complained that the artists of Nepal could not show their talent for lack of budget.
