Speaker Sapkota vows to fight for causes of people

KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Agni Prasad Sapkota, has said he is committed to his duties and the commitment is founded on people’s support and goodwill.

During his two-day stay in his home district Sindhupalchwok, the Speaker addressed the 53rd anniversary of the Ghichet Usidum Secondary School at Lisankhupakhar Rural Municipality-3 on Sunday, he said he needed such back force in the days to come so he could do his term at the HoR successfully.

He said he was indebted to the people for their trust and faith on him and whatever they had given to him as a political figure. “I hereby vow before you that I will fight for the cause of people till the last moments of my life no matter where I am and will be. I will never let you complain that your representative from Sindhupalchowk-1 did anything wrong.”

Recalling the moment when he survived the three rounds of gunfire simultaneously at Thokarpa of the district on March 27, 2006, he said he now realized that his survival was for the people and the nation.

The former CPN-Maoist Center leader admitted that he was getting a limited time to meet the district people since he assumed the post of Speaker on January 27, 2020. He went on to say that he acknowledged the contribution of people from Sindhupalchowk -1 people who voted him to send to the HoR as their representative.

The Speaker took time to recall the dissolution of the House twice during his term, underline the need of moving ahead united.
